The Organic Vegetable Garden at Worton Park consists of two fields, an acre each, growing a variety of market vegetables and cut flowers. Beyond the tree line, a further two and a half acres have been fenced off and a Saxon hedge planted, as well as sixty fruit trees to incorporate all the field crops.
Our philosophy as growers is to create an eco-friendly environment for insects, birds and animals all of which enhance the pollination and goodwill of our produce. A balance of conventional ‘weeds’, flowers and vegetables, give the area an aesthetically pleasing aspect, well appreciated by our clients. In all, we grow more than forty vegetable varieties, diverse herbs, soft fruit and flowers. We also produce eggs and honey.
In March 2007, a 640sq.metre glass house was erected with the idea of extending the growing season by as much as three months. It is light, spacious and will be warmed in the winter. A further five poly-tunnels compliment the growing area.
