Holiday Cottages

The Hamlet of Worton has two traditional stone houses, which have recently been established  as holiday lets. The Rectory is a large three-storied house with original features, flag stoned floors and beamed ceilings, ideal for large parties and families. Corner Cottage is a smaller traditional chocolate box cottage with cosy rooms and a large conservatory and garden. Both are available all year round for week lets, weekends and short breaks

Nearby are public footpaths across the fields to the neighbouring villages. Cassington has two pubs, one of the more traditional type and the other, a free house with a restaurant.  Yarnton also has two pubs, both with restaurants and a local farm shop.

The A40 and M40 are both within easy reach. Oxford with its shops and theatres is only 5 miles away.  There is a regular bus service to London from Oxford or you may wish to let the train take the strain from nearby Hanborough Station.

Ten minutes drive away is the historical town of Woodstock.  Here you will find Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Winston Churchill.  Woodstock is also home to the Oxfordshire County Museum.  Between Woodstock and Worton, is the village of Bladon where Churchill is buried. Stratford upon Avon is also within easy distance Worton is also an ideal base from which to explore the Cotswolds or somewhere to stay when the various highlights of the English summer calendar are taking place, such as Henley Regatta, Cheltenham Races, the British Grand Prix, and Blenheim Horse Trials.

For the more active visitor, there are opportunities for walking, riding and sailing within easy reach, but for those who prefer the quiet life, then the Old Rectory and Corner Cottage are perfect for a cosy rural retreat. 

We also offer Manor Farm Cottages as Holiday lets, they are an excellent base from which to explore the Cotswolds.  Shakespeare’s Stratford is also within easy driving distance.  The town of Woodstock, home to Blenheim Palace, birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, and the village of Bladon, where Churchill is buried, are within 5 miles.

In Thrupp, you will find The Boat public house with its open fire and beamed ceilings. A gentle stroll along the towpath towards the nearby village of Kidlington, takes you to the Jolly Boatman on the A4260.  Both pubs serve a selection of drinks and good food.  There are many walks to be enjoyed nearby, either canal-side or through our managed woodland, along the banks of the River Cherwell, which is abundant with wildlife and birds.

A half hour walk along the towpath or short drive in the car, takes you to Kidlington which, recognized as the ‘largest village in England’, caters for every need, having several supermarkets, Post Office, chemists, launderette and various pubs and cafes.  There is a nearby Park & Ride service into the city of Oxford as well as a regular bus service from the village.  The M40 motorway is easily reached, connecting to either London or Birmingham in approximately one hour.
